Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of modified constraint-induced movement therapy(mCIMT) on the upper extremity function and activities of daily living(ADL) in acute stroke patients.

Methods: 32 stroke patients who hospitalized in Seoul A Medical Center from March to December, 2013 were randomly divided into mCIMT group and traditional occupational therapy(OT) group. The MFT, FMA, BBT and K-MBI were used to evaluate upper extremity function and ADL. The intervention were applied 5 times a week for 60 minutes during 3 weeks. The mCIMT group was only limited on their unaffected side during treatment.

Result: Before intervention, both group had no significant difference. After intervention, both group¡¯s upper extremity function and ADL were significantly improved.

Conclusion: It was found that the intervention were positive effect on the upper extremity function and ADL in acute stroke patients not only mCIMT but also traditional OT. So, when applied the intervention to acute stroke patients, we could be considered mCIMT.
